Privacy Policies

It is the policy of Luxurious Looks Beauty Academy to abide by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974. The (FERPA) Act (20 U.S.C 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S Department of Education. FERPA gives parents certain rights with respect to their children’s education records. These rights transfer to the student when he or she reaches the age of 18 or attends a school beyond the high school level. Students to whom the right have transferred are “eligible students”.

Eligible students in order to release any information from a student’s education record. However, FERPA allows schools to disclose those records, without consent, to the following parties or under the following conditions (34 CFR 99.31):

  1. School officials with legitimate educational interest.
  2. Other schools to which a student is transferring.
  3. Organizations conducting certain studies for or on behalf of the school.
  4. To comply with a judicial order or lawfully issued subpoena.
  5. Appropriate officials in case of health and safety emergencies.
  6. State and local authorities, within a juvenile justice system, pursuant to specific State Law.
  7. Students (& parents or guardians of minor students) have the right to obtain his/her files.

Information on a student will not be released to a third party without the specific, written consent of the student (and parents or guardians of minor students)

Before publishing “directory information” such as name, address and phone of student, date and place of birth, major field of study, dates of attendance, degrees and awards received, date of graduation, previous school attended, and/or date of graduation from previous school, allow the student or guardian to deny authority to publish one or more of these items.

Emergency Policy

Staff Members: Leave workspace and lock your door. Make sure no one is in the restroom and supply room.

Clinic Floor: Instructors are to lock dispensaries and collect all monies from the front desk.

Tornado Warning Procedure: (1) Instruct all students to stay away from glass and windows (2) Remain in the classroom until instructed otherwise.

Fire Procedure: (1) If you smell smoke or see fire report it immediately to staff (2) Exit the building and proceed to the parking lot. Remember To Never Panic

Safety Procedure: All First -Aid kits are located in the front office. (1) All cuts should be examined by a staff member, minor cuts will be washed and treated using the first aid kit. (2) 911 will be called by a staff member for all cuts requiring stitches.

Fainting: (1) Do not move the person (2) call 911

Excused Vs Unexcused Absence Policy

An excused absence is defined as personal illness, Unexpected Accident (example: car accident) death in the immediate family or court appearance. Documentation must be provided to the school in order to honor the absence as being excused. All other absences are deemed to be unexcused.

Tracking Of Hours

  • Luxurious Looks Beauty Academy is a clock hour school, which tracks student periods of 60 minutes with a minimum of 50 minutes of instruction in the presence of an instructor.
  • Each student’s accrued time is based on hours attended.
  • Students must clock in when they arrive and clock out at the end of the day.
  • Students must clock in and out for lunch.
  • Hours are rounded to the nearest quarter hour.
  • It is the school’s policy not to add or deduct attendance hours as a penalty for any reason.

Tardiness

If students are more than 15 minutes late to theory, she / he will not be allowed to clock in until after theory has concluded. It is up to the discretion of the instructor whether a student may enter late if the student called prior to the start of class to inform the instructor that she / he would be arriving late.

Suspension And Expulsion

A student will be terminated for any of the following reasons:

  1. The use, possession of or transmittal of mood modifying substances.
  2. The possession of any instrument that may be used to threaten or injure another individual.
  3. A serious breach of conduct: i.e., assault (physical or verbal), battery on a student and/or staff member, vandalism, theft, gambling.
  4. Pattern of continued defiance of school authority or policies.
  5. Extortion, obtaining money, information or anything of value from another by coercion or intimidation.
  6. Sexual violations, offenses against chastity, common decency, morals and the like.

 Security

Security personnel are available through the Oakland Park police department (911) to ensure the safety of students, faculty and staff. Your cooperation with the security personnel (officers) will help to ensure your safety and make the learning environment a more pleasant place to learn.

 Parking

Ample parking is available for staff and students. Students should not park in the undesignated areas. FIRE DRILLS / OTHER EMERGENCIES Fire drills will be held periodically according to the State of Florida and Broward County, Florida guidelines. Specific instructions for evacuation are posted around the school. When the alarm sounds, students will move quickly outside of the building until the signal is given to return. The signal for evacuation of the building is a repetition of three short signals. The signal to return to the building is one long bell sound.

 Dining Area

A small dining area is provided for the students’ dining pleasure.

 Housing

Luxurious Looks Beauty Academy does not provide facilities for out-of-town and international students who are beyond commuting distance, but the school will assist students in finding housing does not recommend or endorse any housing facilities. Accommodations should be chosen at the discretion of the student.

Announcements

Student activities are publicized through our newsletter and/or posted on the bulletin board in the dining area. If an organization desires to have something announced, it must be submitted in writing to the Director for approval.

Student Financial Assistance

Luxurious Looks Beauty Academy offers all students an opportunity to apply to Luxurious Looks Beauty Academy Inc income-based scholarship of $200 (if funds are available). This scholarship is only awarded to 2 students each month and is selected based upon their essay being chosen by staff. To qualify for this scholarship your household income must not exceed more than $30,000 a year. You must complete a 3-page essay explaining why you chose Luxurious Looks Beauty Academy and how earning this scholarship can change your life. If selected, you must complete 50 hours of community service approved by the school before graduation. It is required that you attend all field trips and school events while enrolled. If at any point you fail to complete these tasks your scholarship will be suspended and all monies remaining for that time frame will be refunded back to the school and the student will be responsible for covering the remaining balance before graduation. All monies used to fund this scholarship will come from our local sponsors, grants, donations, product sales and services. This scholarship only applies for this school and cannot be exchanged for monetary value.
